COVID-19 & Hercules

Hercules-Epictetus“What would have become of Hercules, do you think, if there had been no lion, hydra, stag or boar – and no savage criminals to rid the world of? What would he have done in the absence of such challenges? Obviously he would have just rolled over in bed and gone back to sleep. So by snoring his life away in luxury and comfort he never would have developed into the mighty Hercules.” Epictetus

What would we become without adversity? Without trials? Would we just roll over and escape into slumber? Will we meet the challenges of this pandemic to our our livelihoods, to our comfort, to our very lives with heroism or with fear and trembling? COVID is our chance to show our mettle. May we not waste this opportunity. May we be heroic in our generosity, kindness and compassion.
