Speak Not Harshly

Māvoca pharusaṃ kañci,vuttā paṭivadeyyu taṃ.

Dukkhā hi sārambhakathā,

paṭidaṇḍā phuseyyu taṃ.

Speak not harshly to anyone,

for those thus spoken to might retort.

Indeed, angry speech hurts,

and retaliation may overtake you.
