O Buddha of Boundless Light, illuminate my heart and remove the darkness of ignorance.
By the power of your great vows, may I be reborn in Sukhāvatī to follow the path of the Bodhisattvas until perfect awakening.

Dīghāyuko padīpova, dasasu disāsu jotako,
Amitābha, mama maggaṃ, ālokehi yāva nibbānaṃ.
Tava mahāpaṇidhānena, Sukhāvatīyaṃ nibbattissaṃ,

Tuesday — Kṣitigarbha Bodhisattva (Jijang Bosal)

guide me through realms of sorrow and darkness.
Give me strength to hold the path through degenerate kalpas and eons without the Dhamma.
In the realms of the pretas and hell-beings, teach me the wisdom and methods of compassion,
so that I may walk the Bodhisattva path without losing heart until Supreme Awakening.

Pāli Prayer:
Duggatīsu narakesu, pettivisayaṃ vinā dhammaṃ,
kāladosamhi uppanne, mā me cittaṃ parihāyi.
Mahākāruṇiko nātho, Kṣitigarbho dayānidhi,
sikkhā me dehi ñāṇañca, upāyañca anuttaraṃ.
Yathā sabbadukkhā paccupaṭṭhite, cittaṃ na kampati,
evaṃ maṃ ovadāhi, yāva bodhiṃ anuttaraṃ.
Anāgate bhavesu sabbadā, mama maggaṃ pakāsehi, rakkhā me karohi.


Wednesday — Mañjuśrī Bodhisattva (Moon-su Bosal)

Thursday — Samantabhadra Bodhisattva (Bohyeon Bosal)

guide me to keep the ten great vows with purity and dedication.
Let all my actions be offerings and my every step serve awakening.

Sīlena parisuddho, samantabhadro mahāvīro,
dasavidhānaṃ me detha, mahākusalaṃ sampādeyyaṃ.

The Ten Great Vows of Samantabhadra:

  1. To pay homage to all Buddhas
  2. To praise the Thus-Come Ones
  3. To make abundant offerings
  4. To repent misdeeds and evil karmas
  5. To rejoice in others’ merits and virtues
  6. To request the turning of the Dharma wheel
  7. To request that the Buddhas remain in the world
  8. To always follow the teachings of the Buddhas
  9. To accommodate and benefit all living beings
  10. To transfer all merits and virtues for universal liberation

Friday — Maitreya Bodhisattva (Mireuk Bosal)
